OKLAHOMA CITY – The Douglass athletic department announced the hiring of Latesha Woods as their new girls basketball head coach on Tuesday afternoon.
Woods comes to Douglass from Harding Charter Preparatory High School where education is at a very high demand, and a successful avenue to college for its students. While at HCP, Woods transformed a struggling program into a highly-competitive squad as she amassed a 90-25 record in her four years with the Lady Eagles. She made history at HCP this past season, as she anchored the team to the Class 4A State Playoffs for the first time in school history.
“I am so grateful for this opportunity to be at Douglass.” said Woods. “I aspire to encourage a continued positive vision and expectation for all of the student-athletes as Douglass adds great value to the amazing students that attend the school! I love how basketball teaches many life skills, and I look forward to instilling some of those in the amazing Lady Trojettes every day.”
Woods has coached basketball for over 15 years, and is the face, founder, and owner of “The Lions Den Sports Academy” for over seven years, where several athletes have received college scholarships and life-changing avenues.
