OKLAHOMA CITY – The 2022 ACAC Cross-Country Preview took place over the weekend at Woodson Park hosted by the Oklahoma City Public Schools District.

The event was very exciting from start to finish as it hosted varsity girls, varsity boys, and junior varsity races for OKCPS schools throughout the district. Classen SAS stole the show on Saturday as they took home the team title on both the girls’ and boys’ side. The Comets also secured the individual top-medal honors for both events as well.

The girls’ event kicked off the event with six different schools battling it out. Classen SAS scored 28 total points while Southeast finished second with 36. Northwest Classen came in third with 60, while U.S. Grant, Douglass, and Capitol Hill tied for fourth at 110.

The Comets’ Ana Calingasan won the individual title with a time of 14:50.77 in the 2-mile run, defeating her sister Emma Calingasan by 24 seconds. Southeast’s Jasmine Cardenas finished third with a time of 15:14.84, while Classen’s Stella Scott came in fourth at 15:17.43.

On the men’s side, Classen ousted eight other schools to secure the ACAC banner as they finished with a team score of 24. U.S. Grant had a solid showing as they finished second with 40 points, while Capitol Hill came in third at 62.

Aiden Kirkpatrick from Classen and Daryen Jefferson from Douglass were neck and neck for the entire event as they put on a show for the fans in attendance. Coming down the closing stretch, Kirkpatrick found an extra burst near the finish line as he came in first with a time of 17:37.52 in the 5K race. Jefferson was not far behind, securing the runner-up finish with a time of 17:42.40.

Jose Puentes from U.S. Grant finished third at 18:22.62, while Andres Rianomoreno from Classen came in fourth at 18:31.64.
